Attemp #3.

Considering both of the bloggers out there who read my blog were at my wedding, I didn't think it neccessary to make a post about the wedding. But yes, I did get married to the most amazing girl I have ever met, and am still not sure how I scored such a sweet deal. Unfortunately being married does not automatically improve hockey skills or physical fitness, and writing 'rosebud' on the walls at our new house does not lead to limitless cash in our bank accounts...

Anyways, I have a video of my fort here that will hopefully be easier to see, though it will not repair the damage done by viewing my previous attempts.

Marriage, Hockey, and Animation

This past weekend was really full, and uber-fun! Krista and I had a marriage course Friday and Saturday, and then she took me to the NHL Legends game at the ACC on Sunday, honouring both my upcoming 27th birthday, and the 100th anniversary of the Montreal Canadiens (Go Habs!). It was awesome, we got to see Paul Coffee, Mark Messier, Larry Robinson, Lanny McDonald, Vinny Damphousse, Kirk Muller, Sammy Joe Small (of the Women's Canadian Hockey Team), Glenn Anderson, Igor Larionov, Brian Savage, Brian Bellows, Cliff Ronning, Tiger Willams, Wendel Clark, Darryl Sittler, plus a bunch of other great hockey players who's names I can't remember.

And yet I somehow managed to find time to do a bit more work on the quadruped run. Here are the results, comments and crits welcome!

Another variation of a run cycle, this one more determined. No loop again, but I'll fix it... I promise!

3D animation: Relaxed Run

I got home yesterday afternoon, had good a nap, then got up and had a real craving to animate something. For whatever reason I remembered seeing this guy earlier in the day just running back and forth across a field in jeans and a hoodie for no apparent reason. I thought he was playing frisbee or something, but no he just kept running. Weird. Anyways, he was the inspiration for this run cycle, so thank you Eternally-Running-Happy-Confused-Guy, wherever you are.

Some pictures I'm working on in photoshop for a class project. The goal is to skew the notion of scale, so I've chopped my bro and niece into a harbour to make them look huge, and in the second one there's a Fraggle sized tugboat in the swim area. The third and fourth pics follow the same idea, with some toy tanks scaled and desaturated to fit in with some pics from WWI and WWII. I have some touch ups to do, and a couple not posted yet, but will get the finals up soon.

Paintings from 2007/2008

These are some of the paintings I did last fall/winter. I'm not a big fan of abstract art, so that one at the top is a rarety for me. Of these, my favourite is probably the Stormy Seas one, which was done by brushing the canvas with soapy water and then painting with really watered down acrylic paint. Unfortunately the reproductions don't do much justice to the originals, but that's what I get for taking pictures of them in the kitchen. This one is currently on display at my parents house in the living room - that's right, it's living room quality. The others are being stored under a bed, behind the curtains, or in the trunk of my car... The snowboarding one is another of my favourites, but I wish I'd done a design on the board rather than just leaving it blank - I'm gonna blame that on meeting the due date.

Here's that WW2 landing craft I've been teasing you with. I have another version of it with the ramp closed, and one with different battle damage... but if I put those up too you'd never come back!

I'm back, and I'm 3d!!

Hi I'm back - I made a joke about Chuck Norris that he didn't appreciate and have been on the run for the last few weeks doing my best to avoid spin kicks. It got really close at one point, but I was able to explain the joke to him and now that he sees the humour in it we're best buds. That's right, Chuck Norris is my homme.
So now that I'm back I've got a Work In Progress to share. It's a LCA (troop carrier) of the variety used to land Allied soldiers onto the beachs on D-Day. I'm doing it for a mod of Call Of Duty2. I spent about 8 hours modeling this on the weekend. Like I said it's still a work in progress, I plan to finish it off and add textures to it still.
